Language Courses Regulations

Language Courses Regulations

1. Introduction

The Confucius Institute of the University of Granada (ICUGR) is an organization which main aim is to promote the Chinese language and culture and to develop, in our city and in every scope of this University, those activities related to the Chinese culture. These regulations are the basic tenets of the registration process and the participation in all the Chinese language courses of the ICUGR for the academic course 2011-2012. The ignorance of this regulation is no defense.

2. Entry requirements

A minimum age of 14 years old are required to enroll in the standard language courses for adults. Children between 6 and 13 years will enroll the Chinese language courses for children. It is not necessary to prove a minimum level of studies and it is not a requirement to belong to the University community to enroll in our courses.

3. Registration process

Read carefully the information provided below and follow the instruction given in order to correctly register in the Chinese language courses of the Confucius Institute.

3.1. Vacancies reservation system

Those students interested in our language courses must carry out in the stipulated period the reservation of a vacancy in our Institute submitting the documents that are specified in each section of the language courses (standard, intensive, spoken, children and Motril) in our web page: filled in registration, digital photograph and scanned ID or Passport. The registration must be filled in Word format and won’t be necessary to print it, sign it and scan it. The reservation of vacancies is free and it must be done by email (iconfucio@ugr.es).

If a student would like to register outside the reservation period, he/she can send us by email her registration form and all the required documents, but we cannot guarantee a vacancy in the requested course. If there were any vacancies in the requested course, the student must carry out the level test to confirm their acceptance in the requested level (unless they are requesting the vacancy in the basic initial level 1A).

When the Administration Department confirm the reception of the documents sent by the student, they will process the information and send back to the student the relevant registration sheet which will specify the test level official announcement (if any). On that registration sheet it will appear the date and time fixed for the test level exam. Students can consult as well this information in “Test levels” in our web page.

3.2. Level Test

The level test is compulsory to all students except for those that want to access to our basic initial level 1A (those who never study Chinese language before) and to those students of our Confucius Institute that have studied in our center last semester and have passed the exams of the last course they did. If you are one of these students, specify your situation when you apply for a vacancy in our Institute, including the group you have been taking class with last semester. If you send the registration form when the test level has already been celebrated, you will have to assist to that test the first day of class.

The level test is a brief written and oral test that allows us to select the group that best suits your level. Then, you will be able to improve in a faster way. The test results will determine if the student may attend the applied level course. It will determine the level / group assigned according to the level test results. You may check the specifc dates and results of level tests in the "Level Tests" section of our website.

3.3. Registration

The results of the test level will be published in our “Level tests” section of our web page the same day of their realization. On the results we will specify the level/group the student should register on. You may also check the detailed "Chinese language courses Syllabus".

We will open then the registration period (look up the calendar for each section of the language courses in our web page). The registration formalization will be valid just when the scanned payment is sent to our email: iconfucio@ugr.es). As we offer the possibility to pay the course in various installments, students have to send the first installment specifying that in his/her option. When we receive the payment prove, the Administration Department of the Confucius Institute will send you the respective receipt and your registration will be finally done. Every student must to keep that receipt and the registration receipt during the language course.
